Job summary

The City of Chicopee's Department of Public Works / Engineering is seeking an Assistant City Engineer. This is a professional engineering and administrative role responsible for overseeing citywide infrastructure construction programs, coordinating with contractors, developers, and public agencies, and leading design efforts for roads and utilities.

Required qualifications include a Civil Engineering degree, at least five years of supervisory experience, a MA Class D Driver's License, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Minimum five years of supervisory experience in civil engineering or related field.
• MA Class D Driver's License required.
• Knowledge of public bidding procedures, bid packages, and bid review.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, GIS, Word and Excel.
• Ability to read and interpret technical literature, plans, and maps.

Responsibilities

• Oversee management of citywide infrastructure construction programs and coordinate with contractors, developers, and City/State/Federal departments.
• Lead design of in-house projects for roads, site work, utilities, and infrastructure improvements with plans, specs and cost estimates.
• Ensure construction work complies with specifications and contract plans; oversee field surveying and related engineering tasks.
• Provide supervision and administrative leadership within the Engineering Department.
