Job summary

The City of Des Plaines is seeking a City Engineer to oversee engineering planning, design, and construction for municipal infrastructure. You will supervise the Engineering Division, manage staff and consultants, administer budgets, and liaise with residents and agencies to deliver high-quality projects.

Qualifications include a PE license in Illinois, strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure, AutoCAD and GIS proficiency, and the ability to secure funding and manage complex contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field and seven years of professional civil engineering experience, three years supervisory/managerial.

Responsibilities

• Manages day-to-day operations of the engineering staff; reviews/approves plans and specs for private developments.
• Acts as City’s Signatory on documents requiring a professional engineer’s seal.
• Directs and reviews plans for new developments; advises on ordinances and procedures; negotiates development agreements.
