Job summary
VA San Diego Healthcare System in La Jolla and associated clinics seeks an experienced Nurse Executive (Assistant Chief of SPS) to lead sterile processing services. You will oversee nursing processes, decontamination, sterilization, and staff development, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with standards.
The role requires RN licensure, a nursing degree at least at ADN/BSN level, and leadership experience.
Qualifications
- English language proficiency and licensure as an RN
- Graduate of an approved nursing program (ACEN/CCNE)
- State licensure required with active registration
- Possession of or progression toward higher nursing degrees per role level
- Foreign education equivalency validation may be required for some candidates
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for the SPS nursing process and operations
- Lead and mentor SPS staff in sterile processing and infection control
- Develop, implement, and monitor policies and quality improvements
- Coordinate education programs and competency assessments for SPS personnel
- Oversee instrument processing, decontamination, sterilization, and storage
