Job summary

EMCOR Government Services in Arlington, VA is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer (ACE) to support the Project Manager and Chief Engineer with overseeing building operations and maintenance. The ACE assists in forecasting upgrades and managing budgets while ensuring safety and compliance.

Responsibilities include coordinating subcontractors, scheduling manpower, and providing technical guidance to O&M staff. A Universal CFC certification and relevant licenses are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Must possess blueprint reading ability and a Universal CFC certification.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in building operations and maintenance.
• Licenses preferred: Maryland 1st Class Stationary Engineer or DC 3rd Class Steam Engineer.

Job Summary

EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for an Assistant Chief Engineer (ACE) in Arlington, VA. The Assistant Chief Engineer assists the Project Manager and Chief Engineer with overseeing building operations and maintenance. This position is covered by the CBA for Local 99#egs#LI-JC1

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Engineer in overseeing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the site.
• Assist the Chief Engineer in forecasting and planning upgrades, repairs, and replacements of equipment and systems, as well as enhancing existing systems.
• Oversee, schedule, and review subcontractors performing operations and maintenance work.
• Schedule manpower effectively.
• Assist the Chief Engineer in managing preventive maintenance efforts.
• Assist the Chief Engineer in managing service call efforts.
• Provide reports on O&M activities as needed.
• Maintain familiarity with and work within budget requirements.
• Provide effective cost control for O&M efforts.
• Maintain familiarity with contract requirements.
• Ensure all work performed under the contract meets the highest standards. Oversee and provide guidance to O&M staff.
• Ensure all O&M employees are trained in and follow safety requirements.
• Ensure adherence to company standards, policies, and procedures.
• Make recommendations to facilitate repairs or enhancements to equipment and systems.
• Provide technical expertise to help resolve issues.
• Interact with company personnel, clients, and subcontractors as needed.
• Stay abreast of technical advances, industry practices, codes, and legal requirements.
• Train other workers to increase their skills.
• Attend necessary meetings.
• Assist with procurement of parts and materials as needed to support the O&M contract
• Create statements of work for upcoming projects to be bid out.
• Assign preventive maintenance tasks to personnel and track completion.
• Implement OSHA safety regulations and ensure staff work safely and in compliance.
• Perform weekly Work-in-Progress inspections.
• Perform snow removal.
• Direct and coordinate the activities of other workers performing tasks related to operating and maintaining systems.
• Respond to after-hours phone calls, facility emergencies, and critical building issues, and coordinate appropriate corrective actions as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Universal CFC certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Maryland 1st Class Stationary Engineer License or DC 3rd Class Steam Engineer License preferred.
• OSHA 501 Trainer certification preferred.
