Job summary

Halfords Castleford requires an Assistant Manager to work with the Centre Manager, balancing workshop activity with sales and customer service. You will lead technicians and drive profitability in a busy Autocentre.

Bring hands-on mechanic experience or management background, together with Level 2/3 vehicle maintenance knowledge, a full driving license, and a commitment to safety, training, and career progression.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to deliver high levels of customer satisfaction through effective management and leadership.
• Experience in coaching, training, and developing colleagues in the moment.
• Strong technical/mechanical knowledge, Level 2/3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• Solid understanding of workshop operations, diagnostics, and vehicle maintenance processes.
• Bring your own set of tools and use them in a busy workshop.
• Experience maintaining Health & Safety standards compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Full, valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Centre Manager to drive profitability and focus on the customer journey.
• Split time between workshop activity and daily sales/customer service.
• Lead, coach and develop workshop colleagues and technicians.
• Support monitoring of performance and adherence to safety standards.
