Job summary

The Learning Experience - Andover, MA is seeking an experienced Assistant Center Director to lead and support a thriving early childhood center. You will collaborate with the Center Director to elevate classroom quality, family experience, enrollment, and day-to-day operations at our Andover location.

Ideal candidates bring strong leadership and coaching experience in licensed childcare, with a focus on curriculum implementation and staff development.

Qualifications

• Must meet Massachusetts EEC requirements for the position.
• Director I and Director II qualifications required.
• Experience in a licensed childcare/preschool/early childhood setting.
• Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of licensing, ratios and quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Center Director in daily center operations.
• Recruit, onboard, train, and develop teachers; coach classroom teams.
• Maintain staffing, classroom ratios, and schedules.
• Support implementation of the LEAP Curriculum.
• Ensure MA EEC regulations and center policies compliance.
• Build relationships with families; manage tours and enrollment.
• Assist with licensing documentation and staff records.
• Plan family events and community engagement; support leadership transitions.

Assistant Center Director - Childcare & Preschool

Salary: $65,000-$75,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday

The Learning Experience - Andover is seeking an experienced early childhood education leader to join our team as Assistant Center Director.

This is an opportunity for a strong teacher, curriculum leader, or current Assistant Director who is ready to take on greater responsibility for team development, classroom quality, family experience, enrollment, and the day-to-day success of a thriving early childhood center.

Working closely with the Center Director, you'll help create an environment where teachers feel supported, families feel connected, and children receive an exceptional early learning experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the Center Director in daily center operations
• Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and development of teachers
• Coach and mentor classroom teams through observations and ongoing feedback
• Help maintain appropriate staffing, classroom ratios, and schedules
• Support implementation of The Learning Experience's L.E.A.P. Curriculum
• Maintain compliance with Massachusetts EEC regulations and center policies
• Build strong relationships with current and prospective families
• Support tours, enrollment, family retention, and new family onboarding
• Assist with licensing documentation, staff records, and operational requirements
• Help plan family events and community engagement initiatives
• Step into center leadership responsibilities when the Center Director is unavailable
• Promote a positive, accountable, and collaborative team culture

Qualifications

• Must meet applicable Massachusetts EEC requirements for the position
• Director I and Director II qualifications required
• Professional experience in a licensed childcare, preschool, or early childhood education setting required
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of classroom quality, licensing, ratios, and early childhood best practices
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable coaching employees and communicating with families
• Associate or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred
