Ready to grow your career? Empire Today is seeking an Assistant Category Manager, Hard Surface Flooring to join our Merchandising team. The Assistant Category Manager will assist the department head in the execution of product plans and strategies as well as the daily management of the department. This role will function as the main point of contact for Merchandising support. This is a remote position.

Responsibilities:
- Market research:
- Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activities, customer preferences.
- Analyze purchasing patterns and make recommendations.
- Sourcing & Assortment Planning:
- Manage new vendor, item, and pricing setup.
- Assist in product line review.
- Support planning/execution of promotional activities.
- Special order freight costs as needed.
- Cultivate strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory turnover and recommend ways to improve efficiency.
- Data Analysis:
- Analyze sales trends, product performance, and customer feedback.
- New Product Introductions:
- Assist in the introduction/rollout of new products to the market.
- Assist with training on all product documents.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Main point of contact for Merchandising support.
- Work closely with other departments such as marketing, sales, and operations to ensure alignment on category goals and strategies.
- Monitor and execute daily interaction with each market to assist in the selling of Empire products.
- Quality Control:
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure all aspects of product launches are executed including, updating internal sales tools, sample review, website review, system updates, and other tasks associated to product launches.
- Participate in claim reviews of products to vendors.
- Updating internal sales tools, sample review.
- Reviews website and sample boards for accuracy.
- Owns the master sample process and sample room.
- Identify ways to bundle and sell related products.
- Analyze all customer feedback and provide insights for improvement and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 1+ years flooring experience preferred.
- 1-3 years assistant product management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
