JOB SUMMARY

Assistant Category Managers are responsible for supporting and ensuring the implementation of product assortment and merchandise plans for Book Fairs and Book Clubs to achieve financial goals and support our mission to get kids reading. They also manage product team projects to support their growth and development.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Participate in the book/product selection process by reviewing and recommending products for Book Fairs and Book Clubs.
2. Utilize and update the Category Assortment Planning Tool to assist in planning product categories.
3. Research and analyze sales data, industry information, and market trends to improve product selections, forecast demand, and identify new opportunities.
4. Manage product data setup, maintenance, and accuracy, including creating and inputting product information into relevant systems.
5. Assist with fair merchandising and product assortment presentation schematics.
6. Support marketing plans by providing item information and assets.
7. Manage ecommerce item assortments for assigned categories.
8. Present product information, training materials, and motivate sales teams and customers.
9. Handle School Reading Event projects and entry-level category management responsibilities as applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or 3 years of equivalent experience.
• Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, database management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong writing, grammar, and proofing abilities.
• Self-motivated, able to thrive and multitask in a fast-paced environment (remote or office).
• Experience in Category Management, retail buying, or merchandising is a plus.
• Knowledge and appreciation of books is highly desirable.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $72,000 annually.
