Job summary

Bayside Community Church in Lakewood Ranch seeks an Assistant Care Director to help lead the Care Ministry. You will support day-to-day management, assist in meeting pastoral care needs, and coordinate Care Staff training and scheduling.

This exempt full-time role requires strong biblical literacy, leadership, and experience building volunteer teams. Applicants should be committed to campus care, growth through the Growth Track, and regular participation in worship and giving.

ASSISTANT CARE DIRECTOR

Lakewood Ranch Care Ministry

BAYSIDE PURPOSE: Bayside Community Church exists to help people Know God, Find Family, Live in Freedom, and Discover Purpose.

CARE PURPOSE: Care exists at Bayside to offer help, hope, and support to people as they walk through various life experiences.

POSITION STATUS: Exempt Non-Exempt

WORK SCHEDULE: 40 hours (5 days a week, Monday - Thursday, and Sunday services.)

REPORTS TO: Campus Care Director

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists Care Director in the day-to-day management of Care Ministry Department
• Assists Care Director in ensuring that the pastoral care needs of the campus are met, helping Care Staff develop appropriate Care Plans as needed
• Assists Care Director in facilitation of weekly Care Staff meetings, providing input and oversight for campus Care Staff training and support on an ongoing basis
• Assists Care Director in the training and scheduling of campus staff to serve on weekly Staff On Call rotation
• Directly oversees the identification, development, and monitoring of new Care Ministry volunteers, training and supporting Care Staff to build their ministry teams
• Directly oversees department-level vision casting for Care Ministry Dream Teams and planning of Care Dream Team events
• Directly oversees volunteer onboarding processes in Planning Center Online
• Directly oversees any Care Ministry teams assigned, caring for leaders and coaches
• Maintains ongoing and effective partnerships with the Discipleship, Leadership Development, and Coaches Commissioning teams
• Reports weekly to Campus Care Director

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assisting campus Care Staff with a variety of care ministry-related requests as needed
• Meeting with attendees and/or members of the community for pastoral care needs
• Meeting with attendees and/potential volunteers, helping them discover purpose
• Coordination of spaces and available resources for Care Ministry activities
• Identification and compilation of helpful resources and tools for leaders and members

• Faithful and effective allocation of allotted budget (reported monthly)

• Ministry Efficacy
• Consistently share leader stories of healing and breakthrough (reported weekly)
• Consistently share member testimonials of life change (reported weekly)
• Consistently demonstrate continuity of care where members are offered next steps (reported quarterly)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 5 years previous ministry experience on a church staff required
• Strong biblical literacy and proficiency in scriptural application required
• Strong desire to serve in a pastoral care capacity required
• Demonstrated ability to lead and equip others required
• Demonstrated to build volunteer ministry teams required
• Documented training in care ministry and/or mental health preferred
• Verbal and written communication skills required
• Basic computer skills required
• Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office preferred
• Proficiency in Planning Center Online or other church management software preferred
• Prior experience managing budgets preferred
