Bon Appétit Management Company in San Francisco, CA is seeking an Assistant Cafe Manager to lead daily cafe operations alongside the Cafe Manager, delivering world-class service and aligning with our safety and quality standards.

You will develop and coach front-of-house staff, manage allergen safety, uphold health regulations, and monitor finances to ensure operational excellence while partnering with clients to meet cafe objectives.

Qualifications

• Education: Associates degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
• Safety Leadership: Demonstrated ability to drive and enhance a culture focused on Food and Workplace Safety.
• Supervisory Experience: 1 year of supervisory experience in a high-volume, premium food service or hospitality environment.
• Relevant Experience: Prior experience in a restaurant, café, hotel, or high-end events environment is a significant plus.
• Inclusion: Ability to integrate diverse perspectives and experiences to build a cohesive team culture.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication with guest-facing hospitality.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient with computer and Google Suite tools.
• Certifications: ServSafe Certification is preferred.
• Union Environment: Experience managing in a Union Environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Workplace & Food Safety: Rigorously manage safety standards including allergen management and compliance.
• Culture of Safety: Attend monthly safety meetings and ensure daily operations meet safety benchmarks.
• Exceptional Hospitality: Maintain warm, inclusive hospitality engaging guests.
• Develop & Upskill Talent: Lead training and professional development of front-of-house staff.
• Financial Stewardship: Monitor financial and budgetary responsibilities with fiscal efficiency.
• Administrative Compliance: Meet payroll, service reports, accounts receivable, and HR documentation timelines.
• Digital Operations: Operate web-based ordering systems and manage menu updates.
• Collaborative Partnerships: Communicate with Cafe Manager and client stakeholders to meet objectives.
