Job summary

Tillamook County is seeking an Assistant Building Official to support the Building Official in administering building codes and inspections. The role involves managing daily operations of the building division, coordinating with planning and development, and guiding contractors and the public on code compliance.

The ideal candidate possesses an Associate's degree or equivalent experience, five years in building inspection with supervisory experience, and appropriate ICC certifications.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of plan review, inspection and code enforcement.
• Ability to read laws, ordinances, blueprints and construction plans.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience supervising staff and providing guidance to contractors and the public.

Responsibilities

• Assist Building Official in inspections and code enforcement.
• Supervise permit technicians and review staff performance.
• Review plans for conformance with mechanical, structural, plumbing, electrical and fire codes.
• Schedule and conduct on-site inspections for residential and commercial construction.
• Maintain building inspection records and prepare reports.
