ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:
- Promotes excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer-focused behavior with associates. Greets customers, answers questions, and resolves issues promptly and professionally. Focuses on continuous improvement and implements changes for progress.
- Handles customer orders over the phone or in person with a positive attitude. Assesses customer needs regarding size, flavor, and appearance. Creates decorated products in a timely manner.
- Decorates cakes and bakery products using dyes, specific designs, or custom designs. Uses various creams, frostings, and fillings with consistent quality. Prepares icings following company recipes.
- Assists Bakery Manager with daily bakery operations such as merchandising, ad execution, associate engagement, and customer service. Performs Bakery Manager duties in their absence.
- Oversees inventory by monitoring sales reports, product orders, and supplies to ensure accurate period-end physical inventory.
- Supports scheduling, training, performance recognition, and delegation of work to optimize talents and maximize profits. Utilizes the Learning Management System (LMS) for training new and current associates.
- Develops and executes merchandising plans aligned with financial goals. Ensures correct pricing and production based on weekly ads and specials. Maintains knowledge of merchandise and enforces production logs.
- Verifies deliveries and invoices for accuracy. Assists with unloading, stocking, and product rotation to maintain quality and freshness. Manages delivery breakdowns.
- Controls expenses by improving operations, managing labor costs, and reducing losses. Ensures adherence to recipes, proper product dating, and logs.
- Maintains a well-stocked, appealing bakery department. Engages with customers, offers suggestions, and resolves concerns promptly and courteously.
- Ensures merchandise is fresh, properly priced, and correctly signed. Handles spoiled or near-expiry products according to procedures.
- May assist in baking breads, pastries, and other products, following production logs and recipes.
- Maintains smooth workflow through cooperation with team members and supervisors. Strives for continuous job performance improvement.
- Utilizes all provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately.
- May assist in other departments as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises associates in partnership with or in the absence of the department manager.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To succeed in this role, the associate must perform each duty satisfactorily, with or without accommodations. Requirements include:
- High School diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business or food service preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' management experience in retail, restaurant, or supermarket environment.
- Previous decorating experience is a plus.
