ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  1. Promotes excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer-focused behavior with associates. Smiles and greets customers, answers questions, and helps resolve issues promptly in a polite and professional manner. Focuses on continuous improvement and makes necessary changes.
  2. Processes customer orders over the phone or in person with a positive attitude. Determines customer preferences and creates finished decorated products in a timely fashion.
  3. Decorates cakes and bakery products using dyes, specific designs, or custom designs. Uses a variety of creams, frostings, and fillings, ensuring consistent outcomes. Prepares icing according to company recipes.
  4. Assists the Bakery Manager with daily bakery operations such as merchandising, advertising, associate engagement, and customer service. Performs Bakery Manager duties in their absence.
  5. Oversees inventory by tracking sales reports, managing product orders, and supplies to ensure successful physical inventories.
  6. Supports scheduling, training, performance recognition, and delegation of work to optimize department productivity. Utilizes the Learning Management System (LMS) for training new and current associates.
  7. Develops merchandising plans aligned with financial goals. Ensures correct pricing and production based on weekly ads and specials. Maintains knowledge of merchandise and enforces production logs.
  8. Verifies deliveries and invoices for accuracy. Assists with unloading and storing merchandise, ensuring proper product rotation and quality control.
  9. Controls expenses by improving operations, reducing waste, and managing labor costs. Ensures adherence to recipes and proper product dating and recording.
  10. Keeps the bakery well-stocked, attractive, and responsive to customer needs. Makes product suggestions and resolves customer concerns courteously.
  11. Ensures product freshness, proper pricing, and signage. Manages spoiled or damaged products according to company procedures.
  12. May assist in producing baked goods, following production logs and recipes.
  13. Promotes smooth workflow and continuous improvement through cooperation with team members and supervisors.
  14. Utilizes all provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately.
  15. May assist in other departments as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises associates in partnership with or in the absence of the department manager.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Successful performance requires the ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodations. Requirements include:

  • High School diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business or food service preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ management experience in retail, restaurant, or supermarket environment.
  • Previous decorating experience is preferred.
