Assistant Athletic Trainer

Description

Position Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer

Department: Athletics - Sports Medicine

Classification: Exempt

FTE: 1.0

Work Schedule: Full-time position serving the athletic department, requiring flexible hours including nights, weekends, and travel with teams.

Salary Range: $48,000 - $50,000

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Evaluate, diagnose, rehabilitate, and document injuries and medical conditions.
  2. Provide on-site care and management of injuries and illnesses for multiple teams, including football.
  3. Assess injury risk, promote wellness, and implement self-care strategies.
  4. Coordinate injury prevention programs and therapeutic rehabilitation tailored to each patient.
  5. Recommend sport-specific accommodations for student-athletes with restrictions.
  6. Deliver medical care following sports medicine SOPs during events and travel.
  7. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, coaches, staff, faculty, and administration.
  8. Collaborate with coaching staff and healthcare providers.
  9. Support healthcare administration, maintain records, and prepare reports as required.
  10. Ensure compliance with NCAA, MIAC, OSHA, and other relevant standards.
  11. Maintain cleanliness of facilities and support diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  12. Complete training and performance reviews timely.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervision:

Reports to the Director of Athletics and supervises student workers.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's in Athletic Training, BOC certification, eligibility for Minnesota licensure, CPR/AED/Bloodborne pathogens certifications, valid driver’s license, and related experience or education as specified.

Preferred: 1+ years of sports medicine experience, experience in football, supervising assistants, and related qualifications.
