Job Description
Position Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer
Department: Athletics – Sports Medicine
Classification: Exempt
FTE: 1.0
Work Schedule: Full-time, flexible hours including nights, weekends, and travel with teams
Salary Range: $48,000 - $50,000
Essential Job Duties
- Evaluate, diagnose, rehabilitate, and document injuries and medical conditions.
- Provide on-site care for injuries and illnesses for multiple teams, including football.
- Assess injury risks and promote overall wellness among student-athletes and staff.
- Implement injury prevention and customized rehabilitation programs.
- Make sport-specific accommodation recommendations for students with restrictions.
- Carry out medical care according to sports medicine SOPs.
- Provide healthcare at home events and while traveling with teams.
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, coaches, staff, faculty, and healthcare providers.
- Maintain clear written and oral communication with coaching staff.
- Coordinate with the Strength and Conditioning Coach.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Serve as a positive point of contact for all stakeholders.
- Support healthcare administration.
- Maintain records and prepare reports as required by various agencies.
- Manage insurance documentation and assist with event hosting.
- Participate in professional meetings and maintain facility cleanliness.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
- Complete required training and performance reviews on time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision
- Reports to the Director of Athletics.
- Supervises student workers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training, certification by the Board of Certification, and eligibility for Minnesota licensure.
- CPR, AED, bloodborne pathogens certifications, and a valid driver’s license.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in Sports Medicine and 1+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience working independently, in football, or supervising staff is a plus.
