Job description

Job Summary

The Assistant Athletic Trainer is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position responsible for providing preventative care, rehabilitation, and athletic training services for all intercollegiate sports competitions and practices. The role involves organizing and administering athletic training services for student-athletes and collaborating with faculty and staff to promote well-being across the University.

Essential Functions
  • Assist the Director of Sports Medicine in organizing and managing the athletic training program.
  • Perform delegated duties from the Director of Sports Medicine.
  • Develop, supervise, and manage budgets for athletic medical supplies and equipment.
  • Train and supervise student employees assisting in the training room.
  • Evaluate and treat injuries for student-athletes, referring to team physicians when necessary.
  • Develop and oversee rehabilitation programs for injured athletes.
  • Provide athletic training coverage during home contests and coordinate coverage for away games.
  • Supervise pre-season and regular season activities of university athletic teams.
  • Coordinate athletic physicals prior to sports seasons.
  • Collaborate with university constituencies and participate in related events.
  • Support the athletic department's representation within the University's Division of Student Affairs.
  • Maintain knowledge of NCAA, CCIW, and institutional policies and regulations.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the university's mission, vision, and values.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Special Notation: Staff must adhere to all rules and regulations of Elmhurst University, CCIW, and NCAA, and cooperate with investigations of rule violations, which may result in disciplinary actions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • NATABOC certified in good standing
  • Licensed to work in Illinois
  • CPR/First Aid, AED certified in good standing
  • Valid driver's license in good standing
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Work involves indoor and outdoor conditions, heavy exertion, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs/ladders, and willingness to work nights and weekends.

Work Hours

Flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
