Job Summary

The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports the Head Athletic Trainer in providing healthcare services to student-athletes across all school-sponsored sports programs. Responsibilities include injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and maintaining a safe athletic training environment. The role involves collaboration with coaches, staff, and medical professionals to promote student-athlete health and wellness.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training or a related field
  2. Current certification from the Board of Certification (BOC)
  3. Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in Illinois
  4. CPR/AED and First Aid certification
  5. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  6. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
  7. Professional and courteous demeanor
  8. Ability to make independent decisions regarding assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play decisions in accordance with state licensure guidelines
Additional Details

There are two positions, one for each school. The work calendar includes 260 days. The supervisor is the Head Athletic Trainer / Athletic Director. The position is exempt and non-union, with an annual salary range of $60,000-$65,000.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Employees are frequently required to stand, walk, sit, see, talk, and hear. Occasionally, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, or crouching are necessary. The ability to lift/move up to 10 pounds regularly and use computers and office equipment is required. Vision abilities include close vision. The noise level varies from quiet to loud, especially in gyms and cafeterias. Continuous interaction with students and staff is expected.
