Primary Purpose of Position

The School of Business at North Carolina Central University seeks highly qualified applicants for a 9‑month, tenure‑track position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Accounting in the Department of Accounting. Selected candidate must hold an earned Ph.D. in Business with a major in Accounting from an AACSB‑accredited institution and demonstrate potential for quality teaching and research. ABD candidates from AACSB‑accredited universities may be considered at the instructor level. Candidates with teaching interests in accounting systems/data analytics and tax, and experience using SAP, are preferred. Instructional duties include teaching, curriculum development, and participation in the program’s assurance of learning efforts, and may consist of online instruction. In addition to instructional responsibilities, faculty members are expected to maintain an active program of scholarship and participate in service activities. Quality productivity in academic research is expected. Exhibit a desire to teach at the undergraduate level, and may also be required to teach graduate courses.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Teaching interests in accounting systems/data analytics and tax.
• Experience using SAP.
• Instructional duties: teaching, curriculum development, and participation in assurance of learning efforts (possibly online).
• Maintain an active program of scholarship and participate in service activities.
• Demonstrate quality research productivity.
• Desire to teach at the undergraduate level, with the potential to teach graduate courses.

Minimum Education and Experience

The requirements for this position include an earned Ph.D. in Business with a major in Accounting from an AACSB‑accredited institution and demonstrated potential for quality teaching and research. ABD candidates from AACSB‑accredited universities may be considered at the instructor level, but the Assistant Professor position requires completion of all doctoral requirements by August 1, 2026. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant teaching and professional business experience and professional certifications. Candidates with teaching interests in accounting systems/data analytics and tax and experience using SAP are preferred.

• Instructional: Teach undergraduate and possibly graduate accounting courses, both face‑to‑face and online, with evidence of teaching effectiveness.
• Research: Demonstrate a track record or potential for publications necessary to meet AACSB International accreditation standards.
