The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist in supervising the work of crew members engaged in the construction and maintenance of County roads, bridges, stormwater and related structures. The position is responsible for leading and participating in daily field operations, ensuring the proper and safe use of equipment, reporting daily progress to supervisor, and performing related tasks as assigned. This position works under general supervision, periodically independently developing work methods and sequences.
This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. High School Diploma or GED with four (4) years experience in the construction and maintenance of roads and related public works projects.
Requires a valid Florida CDL – Class “B” driver’s license within six (6) months of date of hire, Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic within six (6) months of date of hire, Florida Department of Environmental Protection Qualified Stormwater Management Inspector certification within one (1) year of date of hire and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Herbicide/Pesticide license with Right-of-Way endorsement within one (1) year of date of hire.
