Job summary

CMA Recruitment Group is seeking an Assistant Accountant for a fully remote, four-week temporary assignment supporting the financial administration of multiple entities in the construction and development sector. You will maintain records, perform reconciliations and assist with VAT/CIS returns.

The role requires experience in bookkeeping or accounts roles, ability to manage multiple entities, and clear communication with HMRC and external contacts. Salary will be dependent on experience.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with VAT, CIS, reconciliations and general ledger processes.
• Organised and accurate, able to manage priorities on a short-term assignment.
• Confident communicating with internal and external contacts including HMRC.

We are recruiting for a temporary Assistant Accountant to join a confidential property business operating across the construction and development sector. Based remotely, this assignment will support the financial administration of approximately 10 active companies. The company's size, culture, ambitions and wider benefits package have not been disclosed, although the role offers varied exposure across a multi-entity finance function.

What will the Assistant Accountant role involve?

• Maintaining accurate financial records across a portfolio of construction and development companies
• Completing bank, supplier and wider balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting the preparation of monthly VAT and CIS returns
• Producing sales and timesheet reports, alongside processing approved payments
• Assisting with year-end accounts and liaising with HMRC and relevant third parties when required

Suitable Candidate for the Assistant Accountant vacancy:

• Previous experience in a bookkeeping or accounts-focused position
• Comfortable managing finance activities across multiple entities or business areas
• Familiarity with VAT, CIS, reconciliations and general ledger processes
• Organised, accurate and able to manage varied priorities during a short-term assignment
• Confident communicating with internal and external contacts, including HMRC
