About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Student Engagement, EnrollmentManagement, and Retention works with the Director and othercolleagues to encourage and support undergraduate studentenrollment, engagement, and retention in the College ofEngineering. Working with the Director, the Assistant Directorholds primary responsibility for the management, planning,implementation, and ongoing operations of the College ofEngineering Tutoring Center, including: the first-year tutoringschedule; upper-class tutoring schedule; Chemistry Review andPhysics Review Sessions; the hiring, training, and managing theteam of Tutors and Scheduling Coordinators/Front Desk team; as wellas ongoing reporting and assessments of Tutoring Center services;and updating of Tutoring Center website. Working in close collaboration with the Director, the AssistantDirector implements the first-year survey and works effectivelywith the Director and others involved in the delivery of COEcurriculum to assess teaching quality and student experience andidentify impediments to academic progress and areas of opportunityfor improvements. The Assistant Director tracks data on departmentefforts, preparing reports as needed. The Assistant Director works with the Director on all connectedelements of undergraduate student enrollment, engagement, andretention efforts, such as providing logistical and operationalsupport for events and activities, taking on an active role asneeded. The Assistant Director supports prospective studentengagement and enrollment efforts through overseeing the COEAmbassadors program, including recruiting, hiring, training, andcreating events' student staffing schedules. Collaborates withDirector on the planning and implementation of enrollment eventsand activities, including co-presenting as needed and representingthe college among attendees, and providing support for ongoing andnew enrollment and engagement events and programs. With theDirector, the Assistant Director supports the COE StudentActivities Council (SAC) including managing key events, securingcampus locations, facilitating catering and purchases in support ofcurrent student engagement and development. This position reportsdirectly to the Director of Student Engagement, EnrollmentManagement, and Retention in the College of Engineering.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, Master's degreepreferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in higher education, studentaffairs/services.
  • Must possess strong program and people management skills,including team-building and coaching abilities. Strong commitmentto student experience, development, and belonging.
  • Must possess strong organizational abilities andtime-management skills, with capability to manage/prioritizemultiple projects and teams.
  • Analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skillsrequired, along with attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify data needed to drive decision-making and tolead and support diverse initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills among a variety of audiencesincluding students, faculty, and staff, as well as prospectivestudents and families/guests.
  • Seeking an experienced self-motivated, collaborative,team-oriented, proactive, individual with a strong focus on studentenrollment, engagement, retention, support, and success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Organizational Management:
  • Manages College of Engineering Tutoring Center operations.
  • Plans, creates, and implements first-year tutoring schedule,upper-class tutoring schedule, and Chemistry Review and PhysicsReview, addressing trends in student support needs and ensuringadequate offerings and Tutor staff to support services in Bostonand across global network.
Student Success Assessment, Retention Support, and DataTracking/Reporting:
  • Works effectively with Director and others involved in thedelivery of COE curriculum with regard to student retention andexperience.
  • Implements COE first-year survey every fall and spring semesterto gather data and information to information Director, AssistantDearn, and Associate Dean on student success and impediments tosuccess to improve curriculum, programs, and academic supports forstudent progress.
  • Tracks data on department efforts, preparing reports asneeded.
Human Resources, Training, and Student StaffManagement:
  • Facilitates recruiting and hiring of student staff who supportthe department, including Tutors, Scheduling Coordinators/FrontDesk student staff, and COE Ambassadors, as well as departmentCo-op if applicable, liaising with Student Employment asneeded.
  • Creates and delivers trainings for teams of Tutors, SchedulingCoordinators/Front Desk student staff, and COE Ambassadors.
  • Approves student timesheets, reflecting hours worked.
  • Oversees COE Tutors, Scheduling Coordinators/Front Desk studentstaff, and COE Ambassadors, providing ongoing management andcoaching.
Student Enrollment and Engagement Support:
  • Work with Director of Student Engagement, Enrollment Managementand Retention on all connected elements, such as supportingenrollment and engagement events and activities.
  • Strengthen prospective student engagement through overseeingCOE Ambassadors program.
  • With Director, provides support to COE Student ActivitiesCouncil (SAC) including managing key events such as the COE ClubFair, Selecting a Major Panel, and SAC Leadership Dinner.
  • Provides logistical and operational support for departmentprograms and events focused on student retention, engagement, andenrollment management, including room/campus space reservations andfood orders.
  • Collaborates with Director in implementation, includingco-presenting as needed and interacting with attendees (prospectivestudent, families/guests, current students, etc.) at events andprogramming for prospective and admitted students, serving as apositive representative reflecting the mission of the department,college, and university.
