Job summary

Magellan Health is seeking a Personal Financial Counselor to provide coverage in short-term, surge, and on-demand situations for military service members and families. The role includes one-on-one counseling, group briefings, and development of educational materials at military installations.

You will work with installation leadership and POCs to ensure services meet the installation's needs and DoD guidelines, including DoDI 1322.34, and may involve virtual counseling as required by contract.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English.
• If required by contract, bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Certifications AFC, CFP, or ChFC required.
• Must be able to obtain a Tier 2 background investigation and pass OCI disclosures.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services to service members and their families.
• Conduct one-on-one counseling and briefings; consult with commanders or staff as needed.
• Develop and make available informational financial materials for service members and families.
• Coordinate and provide Personal Financial Management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle.
• Communicate with leadership and POCs to ensure program alignment with DoD requirements.
• Utilize virtual counseling or secure electronic modes as appropriate and maintain DoD DoDI 1322.34 guidance.
