Job summary

WAND News is seeking a take-charge Assignment Editor to help manage the day-to-day operations of the newsroom. This role requires excellent news judgment, an understanding of newsroom logistics, and the ability to organize and prioritize news content for multiple platforms.

The ideal candidate will lead daily editorial meetings, gather information from scanners, emails, social media, and viewer tips, and coordinate coverage across all platforms while meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience in a TV newsroom required (experience as a reporter, producer, or digital specialist is also acceptable)
• Journalism or relevant degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Set the standard for daily news coverage plans, including gathering information from various sources
• Lead daily editorial meetings and coordinate coverage with teams
• Prioritize news coverage on all platforms and assign crews
• Lead teams for breaking news coverage on all platforms
• Meet quick deadlines and handle multiple tasks regularly
