Job summary

WCVB-TV in Boston is seeking a sharp Assignment Editor who can help win the day across platforms. You will coordinate daily coverage, verify information quickly, and keep our multi-faceted audience informed with distinctive journalism.

This role reports to the Managing Editor and requires calm, decisive leadership during breaking news. You’ll manage field logistics, work with reporters and photographers, and publish breaking updates across the station and digital channels.

Qualifications

Strong news judgment and ability to prioritize multiple stories in a fast-moving environment.
Experience with digital publishing, mobile alerts, social media and audience engagement.
Knowledge of local newsgathering technology, newsroom terminology, and field logistics.
Ability to communicate concise, accurate information to multiple teams.

Responsibilities

Coordinate daily coverage with field crews, producers, and digital teams.
Lead the newsroom's morning editorial meeting.
Make quick, sound editorial decisions about stories for broadcast and digital platforms.
Track crews in the field and support reporters and photographers.
Publish breaking-news content across station platforms and monitor social tips.
