Job summary

Hearst Television in Rogers, AR is seeking an Assignment Manager to lead the assignment desk and coordinate information flow across platforms. You will aggressively cover breaking news and severe weather, directing staff in story ideas and editorial decisions, and building external sources for timely coverage.

You will report to the News Director and manage day-to-day operations, while writing for newscasts and websites and posting updates to social platforms. In-person attendance is required.

Qualifications

• Experience listening to police scanners and breaking news workflows.
• Ability to multi-task while coordinating crews, producers and managers.
• Familiar with news gathering technology and terminology.
• Experience with digital platforms and social media monitoring/ posting.

Responsibilities

• Listen to police scanners and monitor agencies across the market.
• Respond aggressively to breaking news and severe weather.
• Develop stories and update them via sources and tips.
• Plan coverage and schedule staff for major events.
• Assist producers, editors, reporters and photographers in gathering information.
