Opportunity Overview

Goldman Sachs Asset & Wealth Management is seeking a Risk Manager within its Alternatives division. This role involves proactive management of financial and non-financial risks through portfolio monitoring, market observations, and process oversight. The risk team develops and enforces the risk management framework and collaborates closely with investment teams and control functions across the firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with portfolio management, investment teams, and risk teams to monitor risk usage and emerging risks.
• Develop risk oversight processes, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance.
• Perform analysis on emerging risk areas and assess impacts on portfolios.
• Engage with the business to understand risks and escalate issues to senior management when necessary.
• Monitor risk metrics against thresholds and perform analytics as needed.
• Enhance risk transparency and work with engineering teams to improve risk data capture.
• Assess risks associated with new products and businesses within Alternatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 2+ years of experience in risk management, portfolio management, trading, or asset management within financial services.
• Knowledge of quantitative analysis, modeling, and US GAAP preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with risk methodologies like stress testing and sensitivities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with GS systems is a plus.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with alternatives investments.
• Knowledge of portfolio valuations and investment funds.
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks.
