Job summary

Xcel Energy in Colorado is offering an internship with the Asset Strategy & Budget Integration team to learn how the company plans, prioritizes, and invests in its power generation fleet. You will support tool development, work with AI-powered models, and assist in work assessment and scoring processes across the fleet, under supervision.

This paid internship starts May 31, 2027, with hybrid work and potential extension based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Currently a student, Junior or higher (as of Fall 2027) pursuing an engineering degree in an ABET-accredited program.
• Experience using various AI models is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support and enhance tools and models used for work assessment, five-year budgeting, and forecast planning.
• Assist in building new AI-powered tools to minimize workload of project submittals.
• Support the work assessment and scope-scoring process used to evaluate and prioritize maintenance and overhaul work across the fleet.
