Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking an engineering internship for the ASBI team within Energy Supply. You will assist with tool development for five-year budgeting and forecast planning, while helping build AI-powered tools to streamline submittals. You’ll validate scoring inputs using performance analytics and operations data, contributing to fleet optimization.

The internship starts May 31, 2027 and may extend based on performance and business needs. Hybrid work requires commuting to Denver-area plants.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher (as of Fall 2027).
• Enrolled in ABET accredited college or university pursuing a degree in engineering.
• Hybrid work location with visits to Denver Metro plants.
• Available to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours/week) or part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours/week).

Responsibilities

• Support and enhancement of the tools and models used for work assessment, five-year budgeting, and forecast planning.
• Assist in building new AI-powered tools to minimize the workload of project submittals.
• Involve in validating scoring inputs for accuracy and consistency using operations data and performance analytics.
