Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command (NEX) Little Creek in Virginia Beach is seeking an Asset Protection/ Safety Investigator. You will oversee surveillance across NEX facilities, identify suspicious activity, and help prevent losses through proactive investigation and controls auditing.

Duties include detaining potential shoplifters, conducting audits of cash, inventory, and service operations, preparing case reports, and collecting evidence.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in clerical office retail customer service security or other work demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position satisfactorily.
• Experience following established policies procedures and safety requirements protecting property information equipment or materials identifying and reporting safety or security concerns and effectively interacting with customers the public or employees.

Responsibilities

• Maintains surveillance throughout the Navy Exchange facilities as assigned to identify and detect suspicious activity contributing to both external and internal losses.
• Prepares case reports, investigative notes, and processes evidence in accordance with NEXCOM LPS standards.
• Conducts audits as directed by the Loss Prevention Safety Manager or Supervisor of cash registers, cash offices, retail inventory controls, and service operations.
• Conducts investigative research as directed of cash variances and suspicious register transactions utilizing ASPECT Point of Sale Exception Reporting Systems and the In-Store Processor as well as other investigative tools.
• Testifies as necessary in criminal and civil court proceedings to include Military Courts Martial and other military command disciplinary proceedings and administrative hearings.
