Job summary

Macy's is seeking an Asset Protection Captain to lead, train, and supervise Loss Prevention staff to deter theft and protect company assets. The role involves developing programs to prevent theft among customers and employees, and coordinating with law enforcement as needed.

Responsibilities include investigating incidents, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with legal and company policies while maintaining high standards of customer service and safety across the store.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years related experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work with diverse groups.
• Flexible retail schedule including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Select, train, develop, and supervise Asset Protection / Loss Prevention staff on detecting and preventing theft of company property.
• Develop, implement, and communicate programs to prevent theft among customers and employees.
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training, including computer, surveillance, and alarm systems.
• Respond to customer and associate incidents to facilitate first aid and minimize company liability.
• Recover stolen merchandise and apprehend shoplifters who commit fraud or other criminal acts against the company.
• Investigate criminal violations against the person or property of any customer or associate on company premises.
• Prepare prompt and complete reports on theft incidents, merchandise recoveries, accidents, audits, and other activities as assigned by the AP/LP Manager.
• Maintain compliance with the law and company policies concerning apprehensions, searches, seizures, and preservation of evidence.
