Job summary

Macdonald & Company is seeking an Asset Manager for its Houston team to support a growing pipeline of multifamily developments across Texas. You will work with property management and internal stakeholders to evaluate performance, execute asset strategies, and keep ownership and capital partners informed.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of multifamily asset management experience.
• Strong financial modeling skills and Excel proficiency.
• Experience evaluating property operations, lease-up performance, budgets, and financial results.
• Clear written and verbal communication, able to work with internal and external partners.
• Strong organization and attention to detail with multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead weekly operating calls with property management teams and track progress toward asset-level goals.
• Review lease-up performance, monthly financials, budgets, forecasts, and variances; suggest actions.
• Maintain asset models and cash flow projections including reserves and financing assumptions.
• Coordinate with joint venture partners, lenders, brokers, attorneys, and other advisors on asset strategy and transactions.
• Prepare monthly asset reports, quarterly valuations, and market updates.
• Deliver accurate, timely reporting with internal accounting teams and external partners.

Macdonald & Company has been retained by a national multifamily developer to recruit an Asset Manager for its Houston team. The role will support a growing pipeline of multifamily developments across Texas.

You will join an established, collaborative team of asset managers and developers, with exposure to the full life cycle of high-quality multifamily assets, from lease-up through stabilized operations and disposition.

The role

The Asset Manager will work with property management teams and internal stakeholders to evaluate performance, execute asset strategies, and keep ownership and capital partners informed.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead weekly operating calls with property management teams and track progress against asset-level goals.
• Review lease-up performance, monthly financials, budgets, forecasts, and operating variances; identify issues and recommend actions.
• Maintain asset models and cash flow projections, including reserves, financing assumptions, and material changes in revenue.
• Monitor loan compliance, reporting requirements, draw requests, and reserves, and support refinancing analysis.
• Coordinate with joint venture partners, lenders, brokers, attorneys, and other advisors on asset strategy and transactions.
• Support due diligence and information requests for acquisitions, financings, and dispositions.
• Prepare monthly asset reports, quarterly valuations, and market updates covering comparable properties, sales activity, and submarket trends.
• Work with internal accounting teams and external partners to deliver accurate, timely reporting.

Requirements:

• Approximately 3–5 years of multifamily asset management experience.
• Strong financial modeling skills and proficiency in Excel.
• Experience assessing property operations, lease-up performance, budgets, and financial results.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across internal teams and external partners.
• Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
