Job summary

Instructure, Inc. is seeking an Assessment Editor (Mathematics) to join our assessment content team and help shape test items aligned with state standards across grades.

You will develop, review, and revise items, collaborating with designers, writers, and editors to ensure quality and accuracy. The role requires deep secondary mathematics knowledge, 2–3 years of experience with assessment content, and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Mastery of mathematics curriculum expectations and state standards.
  • Experience with assessment management systems for tech-enhanced and traditional items.

We are seeking a highly-skilled, motivated, and passionate Assessment Editor (Mathematics) to join our assessment content team. The ideal candidate will have extensive content knowledge in secondary mathematics as well as 2-3 years of experience in authoring and reviewing assessment items for a national provider or at the state level. As an Assessment Editor, you will support the development of assessment products through the creation, review, and revision of test items and assessments built with these items.

What you will be doing:
  • Work independently and collaboratively with assessment designers, writers, and copy editors to create, review, format, and revise test items based on alignment to state mathematics standards and grade-level appropriateness.

  • Review assessments for multiple grade levels and content areas across Mathematics.

  • Align math items to state standards for multiple states.

What you will need to know/have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in secondary mathematics or related field.

  • At least 2-3 years of experience developing student assessment content products (as a writer or editor), including item banks and standardized assessments, with an educational provider or at the state level.

  • Mastery level understanding of mathematics student curriculum expectations and state learning standards (expertise in Secondary Mathematics content strongly preferred).

  • Experience working within an assessment management system to author and edit tech-enhanced and traditional items.

  • Critical thinker and problem solver who appropriately gives and receives constructive feedback.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain a strict code of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and disciplined work style.
