Vincennes University is seeking qualified applicants for a combined position of Secretary II in the Institutional Effectiveness and Admissions. This is a full-time, 12-month, support staff position.
This position serves the institution in developing systematic assessment and improvement systems and satisfying the Higher Learning Commission’s accreditation expectations. It also
addressed the needs of the Admissions Department Desk Personnel. This at times may provide limited support for the institutional research office and other duties as assigned.
The person selected for the position must be willing to develop an understanding of admissions processes, assessment and accreditation. This person should be willing and able
to assist the Directors as well as assist faculty, and staff with their assessment, institutional research and accreditation needs.
The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: providing exceptional customer service to guests, main point of contact for all in- bound calls, working closely with other part-time secretaries on record keeping, and providing administrative support to the admissions staff as well as the Director of Admissions.
The Secretary will perform duties related to the operations of the Admissions Office.
Normal physical demands for successful work in a normal office environment. Ability to sit
or stand for extended periods. Ability to utilize hands for general office work including
typing, filing, answering telephones, and writing.
A minimum of three years of secretarial experience are required. Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent management-level secretarial experience.
Applicants must have excellent typing skills, strong organizational skills, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe and email with a willingness to learn new systems and processes. Abilities to work independently, to be adaptable, to meet deadlines, and to think creatively in what is periodically a high-stress office environment are essential.
Applicants must be personable, possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, be able to work with a diverse population, have outstanding writing and editing skills, and have a clear understanding of, or willingness to learn, organizational structure and University policy. A valid driver’s license.
