Job summary

Job Title: Assembly Technician
Job Description

The Assembly Technician plays a key role in building high-quality industrial equipment by interpreting schematics and blueprints, preparing materials and tools, and completing mechanical assemblies within established timelines. This position works closely with cross-functional teams, performs detailed quality checks, and supports post-assembly inspections to ensure each machine meets strict performance and safety standards. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively, and a willingness to travel internationally for initial training.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret schematics and blueprints to understand assembly requirements and layout.

  • Prepare builds by gathering all necessary materials, components, and hardware prior to assembly.

  • Complete own layouts for assemblies based on instructions, drawings, and part lists.

  • Set up and prep appropriate hand and power tools needed for each assembly task.

  • Review part lists and assembly needs to ensure all components are available and correctly identified.

  • Perform mechanical assembly of machines and equipment according to specifications and quality standards.

  • Complete assemblies within established timelines while maintaining high levels of accuracy and quality.

  • Conduct quality checks and inspections throughout and after the assembly process to verify proper function and build integrity.

  • Collaborate with different departments to share information related to post-assembly inspections and testing.

  • Follow written and verbal instructions consistently and accurately throughout the build process.

  • Work effectively within a team environment, supporting coworkers and contributing to shared production goals.

  • Use measuring tools such as tape measures and micrometers/calipers to verify dimensions and tolerances.

  • Handle and lift components and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more as needed during assembly.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all safety procedures and use of required protective equipment.

  • Participate in initial training, including being comfortable with up to two weeks of travel outside the country after starting.

Essential Skills
  • Proven assembly experience in an industrial or mechanical environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Mechanical assembly experience with complex equipment or machinery.

  • Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics for layout and build processes.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.

  • Ability to use micrometers and calipers for precise measurements.

  • Capability to lift 50 pounds or more as part of regular job duties.

  • Comfort with international travel for up to two weeks for initial training.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with multiple departments.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work within defined timelines.

  • Industrial assembly experience (non-automotive) in a production or manufacturing setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in a state-of-the-art or advanced manufacturing facility is beneficial.

  • Familiarity with post-assembly inspection processes and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Strong organizational skills for preparing materials and tools ahead of builds.

Work Environment

This role is based in a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility for a rapidly expanding company. The environment is temperature-controlled, providing a comfortable and consistent workspace throughout the year. The production team currently consists of around 50 employees, with plans to add more than 100 additional team members as operations grow, offering a dynamic and evolving setting. The organization emphasizes work-life balance and completing work with a strong focus on quality. The position begins on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and then transitions to a Monday through Thursday schedule with 10-hour day shifts, supporting long weekends and personal time. Steel-toe footwear is required as part of the dress code to ensure safety on the production floor, and employees regularly use hand and power tools and industrial equipment in a clean, organized, and safety-focused environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Monee, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
