Aerotek is seeking an Assembler to join a small, high-mix manufacturing environment in Victor, NY. The role involves hands-on soldering, cable and harness assembly, and PCB work, following detailed technical documentation.

You will collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support mission-critical production, ensuring quality and repeatability while handling assemblies up to 30 lbs. This permanent position offers a daytime schedule.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on soldering in electronics manufacturing.
  • Soldering and IPC/J-STD experience on the production floor.
  • Able to pass in-house solder evaluation during interview.
  • Experience building cables, wire harnesses, and PCB assemblies.
  • Electromechanical assembly background; 5–10+ years preferred.
  • Able to read assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and schematics.
  • Color vision required; work within documented processes and inspection requirements.
  • Experience in regulated environments is desirable.

Job description

Job Title: Assembler

This role focuses on assembling complex electronic and electromechanical products in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment. You will perform hands-on soldering, cable and harness assembly, and PCB work while following detailed technical documentation. The position requires strong attention to quality, the ability to work independently within established processes, and close collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams to support mission‑critical production.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies using hand tools and semi-automated production equipment, including performing basic soldering and using go/no-go gauges to verify conformance.
  • Follow detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials (BOMs), and other technical documentation while performing operator verification (OV) and accurately documenting results.
  • Work independently within established procedures to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve assembly-related issues, exercising sound judgment and escalating issues appropriately when needed.
  • Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to provide technical feedback, support troubleshooting efforts, and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Maintain a strong focus on workmanship, quality, and repeatability by adhering to all safety, quality, and manufacturing standards and procedures, while performing light lifting of assemblies weighing up to 30 lbs.
Essential Skills
  • Hands‑on soldering experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Soldering and IPC/J-STD experience, with the ability to apply these standards on the production floor.
  • Ability to pass an in‑house solder evaluation during the interview process.
  • Experience building cables, wire harnesses, connectors, and PCB assemblies.
  • Electromechanical assembly background, with 5-10+ years of experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, wiring diagrams, schematics, and BOMs.
  • Experience working within documented processes and inspection requirements in a production environment.
  • Ability to distinguish component colors and wiring; color vision is required.
  • Strong attention to detail with a consistent focus on workmanship and quality standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • IPC certification such as IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 and J-STD-001 is preferred.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, military, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
  • Experience working from written or verbal technical guidance in addition to formal documentation.
  • Familiarity with low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments.
  • Candidates with experience at organizations focused on advanced electronics manufacturing tend to perform well in this environment.

Work Environment

You will work in a small, well-lit, clean, and organized electronics assembly shop alongside approximately six other assemblers. The environment supports precision electromechanical assembly using hand tools, semi‑automated production equipment, and inspection tools such as go/no-go gauges. Standard hours are 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Fridays, providing a structured daytime schedule. The role involves light physical activity, including lifting assemblies up to 30 lbs, while working within documented safety, quality, and manufacturing standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
