Job summary

GLOCK, Inc. USA is seeking a skilled Shift Supervisor for the Assembly Department in Smyrna, GA. This role oversees assembly lines, ensures safety, productivity, and quality, and leads training for Lead Assemblers.

The candidate will drive LEAN initiatives, coordinate with production range, logistics, and purchasing, and maintain ISO/OSHA compliance while developing cross-trained team members.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or a GED.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a shift supervisor preferably in firearms, assembly, automotive, and/or metal manufacturing industry.

General Purpose:

Ensure that the assembling of Glock, Inc. production products are completed according to company procedures and productivity goals, as well as internal and external quality specifications.

Shift(s) Available:
  • 2nd shift (1:30 PM to 9:30 PM), Monday through Friday
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Directly supervises shift employees working in his/her area of responsibility (Assembly Department).
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recommendations of hiring and firing employees and planning, assigning and directing work, conducting employee performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
  • Efficiently coordinates production needs by utilizing the separate assembly lines and personnel in the department to achieve the highest level of productivity.
  • Will monitor all activities on the Assembly lines, cleaning area, and Inventory Control always.
  • Will select, train, and certify Lead Assemblers.
  • Oversees assembly training of all new assembly line workers.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all emergency/safety procedures set in policy are adhered to and rehearsed by all assemblers on a regular basis.
  • Ensures that daily and monthly production quotas are met.
  • Supports issuing of daily and monthly Assembly and Production Range reports in coordination with the department KPIs.
  • Ensures compliance of product to internal and external quality specifications.
  • Investigates corrective actions in the Assembly department and assists with providing causes and corrections.
  • Supports all LEAN activities in the Assembly area, especially the sustainable execution and implementation of 5S principles (order and cleanliness) and continuous process improvement (stable processes) based on KAIZEN principles to achieve highest quality standards.
  • Supports the testing of new equipment and processes.
  • Supports necessary information exchange between shifts and with the production range, logistics and purchasing (supply chain), quality and manufacturing.
  • Promptly communicates equipment and personnel issues to the Assembly and production range Manager.
  • Defines and executes on training plans for assembly operators and promotes cross training activities among the shift team members.
  • Develops cooperative relationships with his/her counterparts of other GLOCK units worldwide and ensures respective information flow.
  • Ensures compliance with legal- and company ordinances in his/her areas of responsibility.
  • Ensures compliance to ISO-, OSHA- and Environmental Protection regulatory and ensures highest safety standards in his/her area of responsibility.
  • Keeps his/her standard of knowledge up to date in his/her area of responsibility through continuing education measures.
  • Contributes to ongoing company development and increasing competitiveness in conjunction with superiors; carries out corresponding activities in his/her area of responsibility.

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or a GED

At least 3 years of experience as a shift supervisor preferably in the firearms, assembly, automotive, and/or metal manufacturing industry

Licenses and Certifications:
  • A GLOCK Armorer Certificate or Certificate from a credited Gunsmith School, and/or experience in maintenance repair of pistols or in handling pistols/firearms.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. Work involved minute exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and unpleasant odors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud. While performing job duties, the employee is exposed to lead in a controlled and monitored environment.
