Job summary

Dover Food Retail (DFR) is seeking an Assembler II – Sub Assembly Refrigeration to join our Operations team in Centerville, IA. You will assemble refrigeration components, interpret BOMs, and perform leak checks and nitrogen fills as part of the sub-assembly process.

You will read schematics, cut and braze tubing, charge refrigerant, and verify system integrity. This role requires teamwork, safety, and attention to detail in a first-shift setting.

Responsibilities

  • Read and comprehend a job order and bill of materials.

  • Read blueprints or schematic drawings to locate component locations, sizes, capacities, and types.
  • Cut, bend, and braze tubing to form refrigeration system lines.
  • Remove air from the system and charge with specified refrigerant.
  • Conduct pre-startup checks on equipment.
  • Identify and use appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Perform general assembly tasks using hand or power tools.
  • Identify parts using bill of materials and work orders.
  • Read measuring instruments and use them for gauging and dimensioning.
  • Fasten parts with bolts, screws, rivets or fasteners.
  • Identify maintenance needs for equipment and tooling.
  • Use electrical testing equipment.
  • Work at different workstations as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Use safety equipment as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For

Sub Assembly Refrigeration works as part of a team responsible for assembling various components of product lines, including preparing coils, performing leak checks, filling coils with nitrogen, and placing pressure plates.

What You’ll Be Responsible For In This Role
  • Read and comprehend a job order and bill of materials.
  • Identify parts used on the assigned product line and their placement locations.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints or schematic drawings to determine component locations, sizes, capacities, and types (compressor, condenser, expansion valve, tubing, or piping).
  • Cut, bend, and braze specified tubing to form refrigeration system lines.
  • Remove air from the system and charge the system with the specified amount and type of refrigerant.
  • Conduct pre‑startup checks on all equipment.
  • Identify and use appropriate hand and power tools for the assigned product line.
  • Perform general assembly tasks using hand or power tools.
  • Identify parts and descriptions using work order information such as the bill of materials.
  • Utilize provided information on material gauging and dimensioning.
  • Read measuring instruments such as rulers, tape measures, and metal squares.
  • Fasten parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners.
  • Identify maintenance needs for equipment and tooling.
  • Use electrical testing equipment like dielectric testers or voltage meters.
  • Work at different workstations as production needs dictate.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Use proper safety equipment and apparel required for each operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
