Job summary

Boeing Future of Flight is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Technician for a contract assignment in El Segundo, CA. The role focuses on complex production assembly of structural parts, mechanical assemblies and space flight sub-systems, with emphasis on PCB assemblies and precision tooling.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, assembling to engineering drawings, inspecting quality, and performing soldering on through-hole and SMT components.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years reading blueprints and aerospace manufacturing processes.
  • Capable of lifting 20lbs regularly.
  • Ability to stand and move (reach, bend, or stoop) for extended periods.
  • Preferred: 3+ years in electronics and PCB assemblies.
  • Preferred: IPC J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Electro-Mechanical assembly of PCB assemblies into product chassis.
  • Assemble Electro-Mechanical assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, and written assembly procedures.
  • Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, micrometers and calipers.
  • Visually inspect assemblies to drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Document non-conformances and associated rework/repair.
  • Soldering and reworking of through-hole and SMT components.
  • Support conformal coat, masking, epoxy application and coating.

Job description

This posting is for a contract assignment and is not a full-time employment offer with Boeing. Candidates selected for roles will be employed as contract workers through a Boeing approved 3rd party for the duration of the specified project.

Performs complex production assembly operations on structural parts, mechanical assemblies, subassemblies and aircraft systems, equipment and accessories using manual or automated assembly tools.

The Electro-Mechanical Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks in support of manufacturing of space flight sub-systems and support equipment.

Position Responsibilities
  • Electro-Mechanical assembly of PCB assemblies into product chassis
  • Assemble Electro-Mechanical assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, and written assembly, and standard operating procedures
  • Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, micrometers and calipers
  • Perform visually inspect of Electro-Mechanical assemblies to drawings, engineering specifications, and written assembly, integration and test procedures
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications
  • Document non-conformances and associated rework/repair
  • Soldering and reworking of through-hole and SMT components
  • Support conformal coat, masking, epoxy application and coating
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
  • More than 3 years of experience reading blueprints, working with manufacturing plans, and reviewing instructions for aerospace manufacturing processes
  • Capable of lifting 20lbs or more on a frequent basis
  • Ability to stand and move (reach, bend, or stoop) to handle products for extended periods of time with only short breaks
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • More than 3 years of experience in electronics, electro-mechanical and printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies
  • More than 3 years of experience in Electro-Mechanical assembly on high reliability products
  • More than 3 years of experience working with ESD, IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 standards
  • More than 3 years of experience with soldering
  • More than 5 years of experience building a variety of component-level space products (e.g. avionics boxes, batteries, mechanisms, optics, printed circuit board assemblies, solar arrays, etc.)
  • More than 3 years of experience using structures hand tools, test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers
  • More than 3 years of experience working in a Clean Room environment
  • More than 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
  • Currently hold a IPC J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610 certification
  • More than 3 years of experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems
