Job summary

Jerritt Canyon is seeking an Assay Lab Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations of the mining assay laboratory in Nevada. You will supervise staff, ensure QA/QC, and support geology, grade control, exploration, and metallurgical teams with reliable analyses of drill cores and process materials.

The role requires a strong technical background in analytical lab procedures, effective leadership, and the ability to maintain data integrity and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Geochemistry, Metallurgy, Chemical Sciences, or a closely related discipline preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in a mining assay laboratory or related analytical lab.
• 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience within mining, mineral exploration, or metallurgical lab.
• Practical knowledge of fire assay, AAS, ICP-OES/ICP-MS, XRF, or similar analytical methods.
• Experience implementing QA/QC programs, CRM review, blanks, and corrective actions.
• Familiarity with SOPs, traceability, chain of custody, data management, and LIMS.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily assay laboratory activities, including sample receipt, preparation, drying, crushing, pulverizing, splitting, and testing.
• Coordinate sample workflows to meet production, grade control, exploration, and metallurgical reporting deadlines.
• Monitor turnaround times, throughput, backlogs, and analytical capacity to meet targets.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, tracking, and disposal of samples, pulps, rejects, and materials.
• Coordinate equipment availability, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Oversee analytical procedures such as fire assay, AAS, ICP-OES/ICP-MS, XRF, and wet chemistry as applicable.
• Ensure SOPs are followed for sample prep, analysis, data processing, and reporting.
• Review analytical results for accuracy, plausibility, and acceptance criteria.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Geochemistry, Metallurgy, Chemical Sciences, or a closely related discipline

Diploma or associate-level qualification in laboratory technology or analytical chemistry
