Job summary

First Majestic's Jerritt Canyon operation seeks an Assay Lab Supervisor to oversee daily laboratory activities, ensure timely analysis of geological samples, and maintain QA/QC standards. You will supervise technicians, manage sample workflows, and ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines, SOPs, and data integrity.

You will collaborate with geology, metallurgical, and production teams to support restart planning and assay reporting deadlines in a high‑performance mining lab

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field is preferred.
• 5+ years in a mining assay/laboratory environment.
• 2+ years supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Experience with fire assay, AAS, ICP-OES/ICP-MS, XRF.
• Experience implementing QA/QC programs and tracking CRMs/blanks.
• Familiarity with SOPs, sample traceability, and data management.
• Safety, environmental controls, and regulatory awareness.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily assay laboratory activities and workflows.
• Coordinate sample workflows to meet production and reporting deadlines.
• Monitor turnaround times, throughput, backlogs, and capacity.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of samples and materials.
• Oversee calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Adhere to SOPs for sample prep, analysis, and reporting.
• Review results for accuracy and compliance with criteria.
• Coordinate QA/QC reviews, audits, and corrective actions.
• Develop personnel, assign workloads, and manage staffing.
