Job summary

First Majestic Silver Corp-Jerritt Canyon Gold is seeking a Chief Assayer to lead the assay laboratory operations on site. You will establish methods, supervise staff, and ensure timely, accurate results for exploration, grade control, and production.

You will oversee QA/QC programs, maintain records, and coordinate with geology, metallurgy, and processing teams to support safe, compliant operations. A strong chemistry background and mining lab experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Geochemistry, or closely related field.
• Advanced degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Geochemistry preferred.
• Professional registration or equivalent is preferred where applicable.
• 8–12+ years of progressive experience in mineral assay or analytical lab operations, preferably in mining.
• Senior supervisory or laboratory management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operation and technical management of the mine-site or central assay laboratory.
• Set and maintain analytical methods and SOPs for ore, concentrate, drill-core, exploration, process, and environmental samples.
• Oversee fire assay, wet chemistry, instrumental analysis for precious metals, base metals, and other elements.
• Ensure accurate and timely assay results for grade control, exploration, resource definition, and production reconciliation.
• Develop and manage QA/QC programs including certified references, blanks, duplicates, check assays, and proficiency testing.
• Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Review and approve results before release to geology, metallurgy, and management.
• Maintain laboratory records, calibration, and chain-of-custody procedures.
• Ensure equipment operation, calibration, maintenance, and budget management.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate lab personnel.
• Promote safety, quality, integrity, and continuous improvement.
