Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate in South Dakota to assist the Store Manager with staffing, merchandising, inventory and store operations. The role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager track and is for a limited period.

Responsibilities include recruiting, merchandising execution, inventory control, ordering to hit stock targets, and ensuring strong customer service leadership. Travel to nearby stores and compliance with policies are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to recruit, hire and train qualified applicants to fulfill a store need.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by facilitating and/or participating in staging, stocking and storage of merchandise; ensure presentation per policy.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management; prepare and conduct inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify business trends, expense control opportunities and shrink.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
