Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, merchandising, inventory control, and daily store operations. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager track and is temporary in duration.

The successful candidate will assist in recruitment, maintain sales and inventory integrity, and ensure excellent customer service while upholding company policies across store processes.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting documents related to store procedures and safety rules.
• Math calculations including percentages and basic operations.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and reporting capabilities.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Understanding cash, facility and safety control policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork and controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds.
• Maintain cashier accountability and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
