Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager with staffing, merchandising, inventory management and daily store operations in a fast-paced retail environment in Kansas. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform store POS functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by facilitating and participating in staging, stocking and storage of merchandise; ensuring presentation according to established practices and store manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management (damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork, controls); prepare and conduct inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds; cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores; provide a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
