Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and customer service excellence. This role develops external candidates for future Store Manager positions and collaborates to maintain store performance and integrity.

Responsibilities include recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, opening/closing, cash handling, and daily reporting. Strong communication and organization are essential, with some travel to affiliates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Retail experience preferred for external candidates.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing according to established practices.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork and controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Enforce company procedures and policies per handbook and SOPs.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds in the bank.
• Support cash control and security practices.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in absence of manager.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
