Job summary

Friends of the Children Austin is seeking a Deputy Program Director to act as a successor to the Program Director, gradually assuming leadership of the program and partner schools. This is a full-time, exempt role with a focus on program design, staff development, and community relationships.

The role supports program fidelity, annual performance reviews, and ongoing youth outcomes, while preparing to advance to full PD responsibilities within an Austin-based team.

Qualifications

• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
• Bachelor’s degree required; postgraduate degree or at least seven years of professional social work experience required.
• Seven to ten years’ experience working with child-related programs.
• Three to five years in a leadership or management role with measurable improvements in organizational performance.

Responsibilities

• Be a full-time Friend to one child.
• Develop leadership to inspire and evaluate the Program team.
• Oversee performance appraisals for all direct reports.
• Develop knowledge to lead program goals, budget, and policy implementation.
• Coordinate with schools and families to support youth development.
