Job summary

Ector County Independent School District in Odessa, Texas is seeking a Guidance Apprentice (Counselor) to support a comprehensive guidance program for high school students. The role reports to the Principal and contributes to student personal, academic, and social growth.

The incumbent will coordinate guidance curriculum, individual planning, and responsive services, while facilitating transitions and college/career awareness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Valid State Teaching Certificate - Texas or Out of State (preferred)
• Enrolled into a school counseling program – minimum 12 credit hours completed (required)
• In process of obtaining a master’s degree (required)
• In process of obtaining a Texas school counseling certification (required)

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate a comprehensive guidance program per Texas Education Code 33 targeting campus needs
• Provide guidance to students on personal, academic, and social development
• Coordinate with parents and staff on Behavior Intervention Plans and referrals
• Maintain program resources and staff development to support guidance services
• Consult with stakeholders to enhance educational experiences and school improvement efforts
