Job summary

Lone Star Paving is seeking an Asphalt Heavy Equipment Screed Operator to join our Central Texas asphalt team. You will work with the crew foreman to operate a Screed Machine, level asphalt, and ensure pavements meet specifications.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years in asphalt and 1–2 years operating paving equipment, with a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and reliability in an outdoor Texas environment.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years' experience in asphalt industry
• 1-2 years' experience operating paving equipment
• High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Must be able to run, maneuver, and drive the Screed Machine.
• Heavy equipment experience is a plus.
• Inspects equipment before operating to make sure it is in good working order and ready for the day, including post shift inspection for the same.
• Practices awareness of others working alongside the machines, and exercises safety practices at all times. Safety is essential!
• Perform general laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching, or prep crews.
• Will be expected to leave the machine as required by foreman and job perimeters to help shovel, rake, and handle other tools and equipment.
• Prior to concluding a shift, equipment must be cleaned and organized to company standards.
• May be called upon to run power tools.
• Must demonstrate coordination of function and possess the strength required to use all controls of the equipment on heavy equipment safely.
• Ability to remain stationary in the seat or operating area of the equipment for prolonged periods
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
• Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices as needed.
• Problem-solving skills to diagnose issues with equipment
• Strong oral communication skills to interact with other workers on the jobsite
• Perform other duties as requested and assigned
