Qualifications

• Proficient in asphalt paver operation and reading grade stakes.
• Ability to read blueprints and follow project specs.
• Strong safety knowledge and following SOPs.
• Valid driver's license; CDL a plus.
• Willing to travel overnight for out-of-area projects.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently based on site requirements.
• Adjust handwheels or grade controls to hit exact thickness specifications.
• Extend or retract hydraulic screed extensions to match road width.
• Watch the hot asphalt and keep it at a consistent height.
• Control heaters to keep screed plate hot and prevent sticking.
• Read site plans, grade stakes and project layouts.
• Conduct daily pre- and post-operation inspections.
• Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
• Work with laborers, foremen and other operators to complete tasks.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow PPE standards.
