The City of Seattle's Department of Transportation seeks an experienced asphalt worker to prepare and apply asphalt materials on job sites and potentially lead patching crews. You will set up traffic control, spread binder, rake and finish surfaces, and repair utility cuts while maintaining safety and traffic protection.

Minimum qualifications include one year of hot asphalt construction experience, with four years preferred. A Washington driver's license is required.

• One year of experience in hot asphalt construction, maintenance and repair.
• OR combinations of education, training, and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability.
• Four years’ experience in hot asphalt construction, maintenance, and repair.
• Experience raking asphalt to the proper surface, grade, and contour of the street.
• Experience tamping and smoothing gutters, connections, road patches, and related areas so asphaltic mixtures will properly adhere, conform to old surfaces, and provide proper drainage.
• Experience distributing hot asphaltic road-building binder and topping over road surfaces by raking and combing material to correct thickness.

Responsabilidades

• Sets up traffic control at the job site by safety policies and practices.
• Distributes hot asphaltic road-building binder and topping over road surfaces by raking and combing material to correct thickness.
• Rakes asphalt to bring the surface to the proper grade and contour of the street.
• Tamps and smooths joints, gutters, connections, road patches, and related areas so asphaltic mixtures will properly adhere and provide proper drainage.
• Finishes surfaces by smoothing and tamping asphalt surfaces inaccessible to a roller.
• Operates jackhammer, compressor, extruder, ground pounder, and related equipment.
• Repairs utility cuts by replacing temporary material with permanent hot asphaltic material.
